Adelaide Hills Legal is the legal practice of Andrew Hawking - Barrister and Solicitor (South Australia, Victoria & Queensland) / Attorney and Counselor at Law (NY USA).
Andrew works mostly independently on short to medium term projects and contracts to support individuals, private commercial organisations, and government agencies.
Andrew works also with other specialists in project management, governance, compliance, procurement and category management, enterprise architecture and climate change and renewable energy, to provide focused services where projects may require a diverse set of specialised skills.
Andrew has been admitted to practice in Australia in 1996, and in New York in 1998. He has completed post graduate studies in Dispute Resolution, is a qualified mediator.
Andrew has worked as a barrister at the Victorian Bar in commercial litigation. He then worked on negotiations around native title, cultural heritage and mining in Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia. Since 2005 Andrew has worked on medium to long term projects as independent legal advisor and locum in-house counsel for:
private companies working in engineering, defence, education and telecommunications, and for government agencies in environment, water, health, infrastructure and utilities.
Andrew has served in Australian Defence Force - Army Reserves, in both Infantry and Legal Corps. Andrew is keen to support veterans, particularly those who may be struggling, and is able to provide assistance and representation on processing applications, administrative law, and litigation.
Andrew has an interest in urban design and the use of cheap infrastructure to create spaces in the urban environment that are safe and also feel safe. He has completed post graduate studies in Sustainable Design. Andrew was a home dad for five years and is a qualified ski-technician and bicycle mechanic.
